RICHMOND, Va. (WSET) — The Virginia Department of Forestry is warning residents to stay away from a poisonous caterpillar that has been spotted in the Commonwealth. The department posted to their Facebook page, saying they received reports about what is known as the puss caterpillar, seen in eastern Virginia counties. “The ‘hairs’ of this caterpillar are actually venomous spines that cause a painful reaction if touched,” the department wrote.
