Two new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Northumberland.
Figures released on Tuesday, August 25, by Public Health England show that the total number of Covid-19 cases across the county now stands at 1,652.
Across the North East, 28 new cases have been confirmed, with the region’s tally now standing at 15,958.
Separate figures released by NHS England earlier on Tuesday show that no further coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded at the Northumbria hospital trust.
Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, in Cramlington, is among the hospitals treating coronavirus patients from across Northumberland.
The total number of deaths at the trust remains at 202.
In total, 1,428 people who had tested positive for coronavirus have now died across the North East’s hospital trusts with no further deaths announced on Sunday.
Nationally, a further 15 people, who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,515.
The patients were between 27 and 95 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.
The dates of death range from July 23 July to August 24, with the majority since Saturday.
Their families have been informed.
According to the latest figures released by Public Health England on Tuesday, August 25, there are now 15,958 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the North East.
Thursday, July 2, marked the first time that PHE released numbers of lab-confirmed positive cases through testing in all settings.
These daily figures will now combine pillar one testing data (those from a laboratory setting) and pillar two tests (those carried out in the wider community).

County Durham: Sixteen new cases (Total number of cases: 3,462).
Sunderland: One new case (Total number of cases: 1,848).
Newcastle: Four new cases (Total number of cases: 1,663).
