No Ban on Hiring for Govt Jobs, Clarifies Centre after Uproar over Finance Ministry Circular Calling for Fr…

The clarification came hours after the Congress demanded that the Centre withdraw its circular calling for a “freeze” on the creation of new posts, urging it to create more vacancies while filling the existing ones in the wake of rise in unemployment.

The Centre on Saturday clarified that a Department of Expenditure circular issued on Friday to cut official spending amid an economic crisis will not affect or curtail recruitment for government jobs.

The clarification came hours after the Congress demanded that the Centre withdraw the circular calling for a “freeze” on the creation of new posts, urging it to create more vacancies while filling the existing ones in the wake of a rise in unemployment.

“The Department of Expenditure circular dated September 4, 2020, deals with internal procedure for creation of posts and does not in anyway affect or curtail recruitment,” the Finance Ministry said in a tweet on Saturday.

Normal recruitments through govt agencies like Staff Selection Commission, UPSC, Rlwy Recruitment Board, etc will continue as usual without any curbs.
