The focus was detected at a depth of about 135 kilometers, according to preliminary data. The epicenter is in the sea not far from the coast, at a distance of approximately 27 kilometers from the city of Batangas.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) recorded a magnitude 5.7 earthquake off the coast of northwestern Philippines on Wednesday.

There were no immediate reports of specific earthquake-related damage or injuries, nor have the local authorities issued a tsunami warning.
