Terrifying footage has emerged of a hero dad wrestling with a drug-addled stranger who tried to kidnap his young son in Melbourne.
The confronting CCTV vision was released as Michael Paul Rawson pleaded guilty to five charges over the incident, which happened in November last year outside Preston Library.
Rawson, who was in a drug-induced psychosis at the time after consuming a cocktail of GHB and methamphetamines, can be seen trying to grab the boy — but the father refused to let go.
The dad was dragged into nearby bushes and to the ground where he curled up around his son while Rawson, wearing a dressing gown, punched him repeatedly in the back of the head.
Bystander Julio Alberto gave chase when Rawson tried to run off with the boy, with the two men managing to wrestle the boy back.
In the video footage, the dad can be seen comforting his son as other witnesses help restrain Rawson.
The Daily Mail reports that Rawson choked back tears as he pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping, assault, causing reckless injury, resisting arrest, and assaulting an emergency officer via video-link in court…
