Bruins game Friday among those postponed by NHL amid protests for social justice
NHL playoff games planned for Thursday and Friday will be postponed in solidarity with protests for social justice, including Game 4 of the Boston Bruins’ series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.In a joint statement, the National Hockey League and Players’ Association said all four games scheduled for the two days would be postponed. They said the remainder of the second round schedule would be adjusted accordingly.”The Bruins are proud of our players for using their platform to bring further attention to a movement that is important to them, our organization and our game,” the Bruins wrote in a statement. NBA and MLB games have also been postponed as players have decided to use their platform to protest following the recent shooting of Jacob Blake, ESPN reports.Blake, a 29-year-old Black man, was shot seven times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Sunday.”We understand that the tragedies involving Jacob Blake, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others require us to recognize this moment.
